Hypnotherapy is a pleasant, safe and highly effective treatment for a wide variety of symptoms.
Hypnosis can make the process of change easier and less challenging. Whether your goals are to lose weight, overcome past trauma, manage pain, anxiety or emotional issues, get rid of a phobia, overcome OCD or simply to enjoy a wonderful state of pure relaxation. Hypnosis is for you!
While in a focused hypnotic state, the mind is more able to absorb the positive suggestions that can lead to change. This may encourage the transformation of difficult or uncomfortable feelings or behaviours that may be stopping you from embracing your life fully or holding you back in some way. Hypnotherapy increases the body’s ability to heal whilst rejuvenating both body and mind.
In each session we will talk about what you want to change and on a conscious level what the issues are, then all you need to do is relax and let your subconscious do the work. I will support you to go into a hypnotic state where you will still know and hear everything that is going on, but instead of trying to fight your internal dialogue you will be relaxed enough to listen and make the changes that you want. You will be in control at all times. Hypnotherapy is wonderful for self help as you do not have to rake over all the problems or concerns that you have, so long as you feel them you will be able to change them. Hypnotherapy is a way of allowing your true voice to be heard clearer and louder in an age that has so much noise pollution.
Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing is a highly effective form of psychotherapy used in the treatment of trauma including PTSD, anxiety, phobias, depression, and addiction.
When someone experiences a trauma of some kind the brain normally processes the experience, and all is well. However, sometimes, fragmented memories of the trauma can remain unprocessed meaning that although the trauma is over and the threat has gone, that it still feels very current, and you may experience the same physical responses that you felt at the time of the initial trauma.
Using EMDR we are able to process the trauma so that the brain is no longer in a state of high alert and in addition to this, we are able to shift the brain into a state of rational rather than emotional thinking. By being able to think rationally about an event you are able to let go of unnecessary feelings of guilt, sadness, anger; feelings of being overwhelmed, or other negative associated emotions and any possible irrational reactions to current situations.
One of the biggest benefits of EMDR is that it does not require you to talk about the trauma or distressing experience for it to be effective. By focusing on changes in sensation and emotion whilst focusing on a series of directed eye movements, you are able to process the trauma and the associated emotion in a healthy way, so that it even though it’s something that you have experienced or that happened to you, you are no longer traumatised by it.
As a recovering alchololic of over 22 years, I recognise the importance of change and work in a holistic way understanding that we all need support groups and that just one avenue is sometimes not enough so I work in conjunction with any or all the other support that has been utilised before, building on experience as we are made up of all our parts, experience and learning. So if you have a personal trainer then let's work with what you are doing already, if you go to a diet group, or meditation group, then we incorporate all these elements to get a personalised service for you. I have first hand experience of working on inner demons and finding peace in my life, releasing traumatic experiences through EMDR and healing old wounds with regression in hypnotherapy.
I have also been a social worker for adults, working with neurodiversity, learning disabilities / difficulties and autism for over 20 years. I have a vast experience of supporting people to change, make differences in their lives and am able to support them to really understand how to help themselves in order for longevity of change and ability to self help. I am adept at listening to what is not being said and making connections that may not be apparent. With my training in hypnotherapy, counselling and personal experience of all of this, I am energised to work with anyone who wants support to change. Change is inevitable, but it is the resistance to change that hurts, accepting and moving with it makes change something to strive for.
